Chocolate World in Hershey, PA
|
| My family and I went to Hershey, PA for a vacation at the end of August. We also went to Philadelphia and Lancaster, but I'm going to write about Chocolate World at Hershey...
When you go to Hershey, you can go into the amusement park or you can go into Chocolate World. That's the place where they give you a factory tour and there's a 3-D movie and lots of Hershey stuff to buy. That's where we went. The tour there is incredible! You follow a long line of people and then you get into a big amusement park type of car ride. There are speakers in the car and as you go along the track you hear all about the history of Hershey chocolate. The ride is great and when it ends you walk out and there are samples to try. You only get one sample, but I think if they didn't limit it, some people would take too many candies at a time. Once you are done with the ride there are lots of other things to do there. We got on another line where they let you act like a worker on the assembly line filling baskets of Kisses. They give you a hat like a baker and they take a picture of you that your parents can buy. It's kind of like an ID tag. When it's your turn, the man in charge tells you to go over to the assembly line. You press a button and fill the basket with Kisses. When you are finished the man in charge gets you and the other kids to do some silly dance. That was a lot of fun. After that we went to one of the souvenir shops. My grandpa bought me a "Toolbox of Chocolates". I got to pick the toolbox and place it under a huge pipe. Then I moved this big lever and all of the candy fell into my toolbox. The toolbox has a lock and key and so I knew nobody would get to eat all of my candy! We walked all around the different stores there. We couldn't believe that there were so many types of Hershey candies and so many different things with the names of the candies on them. After the stores we went to see the 3-D movie. It was just ok. The tour and the assembly line were lots of fun, the movie was a little silly. The only thing cool about the movie was that there were incredible special effects, like when there was a mouse on the screen, you felt like there was a mouse running around by your feet. Then there was a scene when it was raining. All of a sudden, you were getting wet with sprinkles of water. That stuff made the movie a little more interesting, but the ride and the assembly line were the most fun parts of Chocolate World.
